Nneka stormed into Ken's room, still fuming from their earlier encounter. 'Why are you always so ungrateful, Ken?' she exclaimed, her voice trembling with frustration.
Ken looked up from his laptop, his eyes flashing with disdain. 'Next time, don't dare talk to me like that,' he snarled, his voice dripping with condescension. 'Get out of my sight!'
Nneka spun on her heel and marched out of the room, but Ken's voice stopped her in her tracks. 'And don't forget, today is school day. Be quick, because I won't wait for you.'
Nneka hurriedly finished her breakfast, her mind racing with thoughts of how to deal with Ken's constant belittling. She waited in the sitting room, her old school bag by her side, until Ken finally emerged, looking handsome and put-together as usual.
'Let's go, Miss Nneka,' he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. 'We can't keep the school waiting.'
Nneka bristled at his tone but said nothing, following him out of the house. As they walked, Ken's grip on her arm tightened. 'Remember, you're in my house, and I won't tolerate any disrespect,' he hissed, his face inches from hers.
Nneka tried to wriggle free, but Ken's hold was like a vice. 'Ken, please let me go,' she begged, her voice barely above a whisper. 'You're hurting me.'
Ken's eyes glinted with triumph, but he released his grip, a sly smile spreading across his face. 'For now, Nneka. But mark my words, I won't hesitate to show you who's boss.
