At the corner of Taylor and SW Third Street in Portland, Oregon, an early Saturday morning standoff between protestors and unnamed, unmarked, heavily armed (unconstitutional and illegal) federal agents ended when, as it is reported and recorded, a naked woman approached the skirmish line and eventually just sat right down on the pavement, legs open, placid. . .after a while, the agents dispersed. . .what powerful and ancient magic had occurred!
It's called anasyrma - the ritual display of the female genitals for an apotropaic (warding off of evil) effect - and it appears in stories and mythologies across all eras and countries and peoples from Baubo in Ancient Greece, cheering up Demeter on the loss of her daughter, Persephone, to Hades; Hathor exposing herself to Ra to make him laugh so he wouldn't destroy the world in Ancient Egypt; the Lajji Gaura figures in India; the Sheela na gig stone carvings all over Europe and England and Ireland; the Dilukai wooden figurines in the Caroline Islands in the South Pacific; Ame-no-Umeze in Ancient Japan lifting her skits up, exposing herself to coax the hidden sun god from his cave and restoring light to the world. . .and many, many more examples both mythological and historical. . .
Perhaps the most famous historical example known to us is from Renaissance Italy, where Caterina Sforza, ruthless Renaissance warrior princess used it to great effect in April 1488 when her fortress at Forli was under siege and she and her children captured - she used a ruse to get back into the fortress then defiantly stood on the ramparts hurling challenges back - they held knives to her captured children's throats but Caterina lifted her skirt, exposed her genitals and said something to the effect of "Do your worst! I have the parts to make more!"
She ended up winning that battle.
Powerful stuff, this anasyrma.
At play and in full effect in the streets of Portland, July 18, 2020!
Sometimes the ancient magic is the best magic. . .and the most powerful. . .
