Horned Frogs can SPIT BLOOD out of their eyes as a defense mechanism against predators. Horned Frogs are Bad Ass, Cool, and ferocious, lizards.
Horned Frog Athletic teams, Coaches, Faculty and Staff will not back down nor be intimated. I am advocating if you are a TCU Alumni or current student embrace this phrase “Spit Blood” to greet each other when you see one another much like Auburn uses War Eagle as their handshake greeting.
In the 2014 Rose Bowl, TCU was referred to as the school from the Little Sisters of the Poor and beat Wisconsin. Call it David vs Goliath or Rocky Balboa we love being the Under frog.
No one, I mean no one can underestimate the power of the Blood Spitting Horned Frogs! Horned Frogs feast on ants, Wolverines, and Bulldogs. Spit Blood! Beat Georgia!
Horned lizards (Phrynosoma), also known as horny toads, can be very difficult to spot! Not only are they camouflaged well, but they also have a unique defense against predators.
Eight different species of horned lizards have the ability to squirt an aimed torrent of blood from their eyes!
Horned lizard populations, unfortunately, are declining. This is due to loss of habitat and an invasion of invasive fire ants.
The ants wreak havoc on native insect species that the horned lizards need for food. Be careful where you step not to squish the horned lizards!
