⠀
After 7 hours in the ER with the most ungodly, unbearable pain I've ever felt, I heard those words from the ER doctor and weirdly felt relieved.⠀
⠀
''OMG, it's not appendicitis, Chris!!!'' I said as I leaned over for a fist-bump. ⠀
⠀
I was 99% sure my appendix was about to bust open the weekend before last (and so did three doctors)... ⠀
⠀
The pain made me shake uncontrollably, and I may or may not have punched the crap out of Chris' car door on the way to the hospital. ⠀
⠀
But worse than any of that was controlling the urge to jump to the worst possible conclusion in my mind about my health. ⠀
⠀
''I can't afford to be sick right now... What could possibly be wrong when I've done everything, right?!'' ⠀
⠀
Health is a funny thing. ⠀
⠀
Even when you've worked your buns off to eat right, work out, have more fun, and get your spirituality in check, stress can trigger so much of our physiology, and there's always ups and downs. ⠀
⠀
It can be a lot like a business in that way. So if you're reading this and like so many of us, you're dealing with a health setback or challenge... Permission to detach and focus on YOU.⠀
⠀
No matter what the world demands of you, you can't serve if you're not well. Health is a journey, a process, and I want you to know you're allowed to take a dang break and get help.⠀
⠀
Struggling with health doesn't mean you're weak; it means you're human, and your body's giving you a heads up that something isn't right. ⠀
⠀
Listen to it, talk about it, and surround yourself with people who will pray & encourage you through it. ⠀
⠀
As for me, I'm focused on creating vs. consuming and working my butt off to turn down the stress, turn up the joy, and get back to balance. ⠀
⠀
I'll keep you posted on the journey, not because I feel like I have to share every freaking detail of my life with the world, but because I want to encourage you to put your body first and talk about it when you need to (especially now). 😘⠀
⠀
⠀
P.S. Chris and I joke that we have two full-time jobs, one is our businesses and the other one is managing our health. Can you relate?
