Youngest Mom in History
Lina Medina from Peru is the youngest confirmed mother in medical history. At just 5 years and 7 months old, she gave birth to a healthy boy named Gerardo, who weighed 2.7 kg (6.0 lbs). Lina had a rare condition called precocious puberty, leading to her first menstruation at around 8 months old.
Her father was initially suspected of abuse but was released due to lack of evidence, and the identity of the father remains unknown. Gerardo was raised believing Lina was his sister and only learned the truth at age 10. He lived until the age of 40, passing away in 1979.
Lina later married and had another son in the early 1970s, living a private life since. Her story highlights the importance of child protection and modern forensic science in addressing and preventing abuse.
